I've been using the keltner channel indicator downloaded here but something is wrong with it. I've redesigned it (practice to learn QS as well!) and mine works.

My version was based on the bollinger bands which is correct. I have 2 indicators upper and lower and a function I added to the indicator panel on the right called Keltner Channel. This draws the channel using the two indicators.

I would like to share this correct version with QS community. How do I do this? I think it should be uploaded as a "package" but I'm missing this step.

Thanks.

You cannot share a formula on the sharing server (you can share it on the forum if you want), however you can create a custom indicator based on that formula (Tools -> Create Functions)

To share an item:
- Select "Tools -> Sharing Server"
- Select the item type
- Select the item you want to share
- Click on "Share Selected Item"
- Type a title and a description
- Click on "Share"

The item become visible on the sharing server after we approve it.

I realize I cannot share a formula. What I dont understand how to do it share something like the Bollinger Band indicator.

When you drag BB onto a chart it shows the upper and lower bands, they are colored and have a shaded area between them. When you click on the indicator its actually made of of three parts: 2 functions (bbandup and bbanddown and the indicator on the rightside that plots these. When I download an indicator from the share server it will automatically install everything, indicator and 2 functions. This is what I'm trying to do when I talk about a package but maybe this is not how QS works.

So what should I do? Make 3 separate shares? Or am I doing something wrong with my indicator?

Thanks

Bollinger Band indicator is built in so it is something different.

When you download a indicator from the sharing server, QuantShare asks you if you want to plot that indicator. If you say yes, then it simply adds one instruction to your chart:

a = myIndicator(...);
plot(a, "");

That is all it does.

You can share an indicator "myIndicator" (Tools -> Create Functions) but not a formula:

a = myIndicator(...);
plot(a, "");

See how "Keltner Channel Indicator" is created. The indicator probably plots two or three lines inside the C# code.
